Current Meters & Testers

  • Agilent U1242A handheld multimeter – my “go to” meter for anything beyond simple troubleshooting or testing
  • Fluke T+ Pro voltage tester – the tester which is usually on my belt
  • Fluke 1AC-II VoltAlert non-contact voltage tester – always on my belt
  • Fluke T5 electrical tester – sits at home as a back-up tester.

  • Fluke or Agilent clamp meter
  • Fluke 233 remote display multimeter (the wireless range is a bit low, but not useless)

About the Author

Ross Finch is a journeyman electrician with Denver-based electrical contractor Encore Electric. He is a graduate of Red Rocks Community College, holding AAS Commercial Electrician and AAS Maintenance Electrician degrees, and has completed the electrical apprenticeship training program at the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Independent Electrical Contractors.
